BBC suspends Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson after 'fracas' with a producer

LONDON — Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended by the BBC following a fracas with a Top Gear producer.


An investigation is underway and the BBC Two show won't be broadcast this Sunday



The BBC issued a short statement Tuesday:



“Following a fracas with a BBC producer Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended pending an investigation. No one else has been suspended. Top Gear will not be broadcast this Sunday. The BBC will be making no further comment at this time.”



Top Gear, which is presented by Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, is one of the BBC's most popular programmes. It's also the world’s most widely watched factual television programme according to the Guinness Book of World Records and generates an enormous amount of money for BBC Worldwide, the corporation's commercial wing.
