Yemen filmmaker: 'Nobody knows what’s safe anymore'

Safa Al Ahmad was filming a documentary about the power struggle in Yemen recently and was considering attending a rally at a central square in the capital Sana'a, the capital of Yemen. In the end she decided against it — and that day, radicals murdered more than 60 people in a massive bomb blast.


When she saw the footage and images of the bloodied bodies lying in the street in the aftermath, she knew she could have been among them. Ahmad, who has been traveling in Yemen as a reporter for years, told Mashable that it brought home to her exactly how random the violence there has become
