UN Women deny 'partnership' with Uber after jobs announcement

A major jobs initiative that was slated to pair the efforts of ride-hailing service Uber and UN Women has been scrapped just over a week since it was announced.


In a video posted to YouTube, UN Women executive director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka said, “I want to assure you that UN Women will not accept an offer to collaborate in job creation with Uber."




The stunning turnaround is remarkable considering that on March 10, Uber released a press statement in which it announced "a new global partnership with UN Women" to create "1 million jobs for women globally on the Uber platform by 2020." Read more...
