As Kathy Griffin exits 'Fashion Police,' it may be time to let the show go

Two weeks after the sudden death of comedian Joan Rivers, the E! Network — arguably the platform on which she built a mini bedazzled empire — said they had plans to carry on her legacy by continuing to produce episodes of Fashion Police.


The move even came with the blessing of daughter Melissa Rivers, who in her own statement thanked "Joan Rangers," a term adopted by fans of the 81-year-old comedy legend


But three months into the new era of the Fashion Police, it's become quite clear that there really shouldn't have been a new era at all. And in the absence of seemingly the sole person who knew how to make it work, the show is not just a shell of itself but a relic of a time in which important social movements — like those pushing for people to #askhermore and love their own bodies — weren't as prevalent.
