Commuter train derails after smashing truck in California; at least 30 injured

At least 30 people were injured Tuesday morning and at least one person was killed when a Los Angeles-bound passenger train collided with a tractor-trailer in Oxnard, California, sending train cars flying off the tracks.

The collision between the Metrolink Ventura County Line 102 train and the truck happened at 5:40 a.m. local time on Tuesday, causing four train cars to derail at the intersection, located nearly two hours northwest of L.A.

Ventura County fire officials classified the incident as a multiple casualty event, KABC reported. An official told KTLA the fatality was in the truck. Read more...
