Economist names first female editor in 171-year history

British magazine The Economist has named Zanny Minton Beddoes to the role of editor, marking the first time in the publication's 171-year history that it is led by a woman
Beddoes has worked at the magazine since 1994, having previously been an economist for the International Monetary Fund.
The Economist Group announced the move in a press release Thursday. Beddoes will start as editor on Feb. 2.
“I am delighted to be given the opportunity to edit The Economist. It is one of journalism’s great institutions, with an extraordinarily talented staff," Beddoes said in a the press release. Read more...
