Woven Digital, a quiet giant in online media, raises a cool $18 million

Woven Digital announced the completion of a Series A funding round of $18 million on Thursday, as the quiet giant of digital media looks to double its headcount and push into video.


Institutional Venture Partners led the round, which included an eclectic list of investors including Univted Talent Agency, the San Francisco 49ers, Buddy Media cofounder Mike Lazerow and former NBA stars Baron Davis and Jermain O'Neal. IVP Prinicpal Somesh Dash will join Woven's Board. Woven operates a network of news, culture and entertainment sites that mostly aggregate content across the web.
