'Doctor Who' and 'Sherlock' rides could feature at new £2 billion theme park

LONDON — Fans of Doctor Who, Sherlock and Top Gear may want to block out some time in 2020, as a new theme park opening then will likely feature attractions based on the shows.

BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the broadcaster, announced on Wednesday a deal with a property developer to allow some of its programmes and characters to be "brought to life" at a new park on the Swanscombe Peninsula in Kent.

Backed by Paramount Pictures, the £2 billion ($3.1 billion) theme park and resort will be situated near Ebbsfleet International railway station, about 17 minutes from London and two hours from Paris. Read more...
