NYC mayor Bill de Blasio tells New Yorkers to keep demanding change

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio told radio listeners on Thursday morning that he was saddened by the video of Eric Garner, an unarmed black man, being put in a deadly chokehold by a New York police officer. A Staten Island grand jury decided on Wednesday not to indict the officer in Garner's death.

De Blasio criticized the police's role in his death, but stopped short of condemning the jury's decision.

“I don't judge any judicial proceeding,” he told listeners of Hot 97's EBRO In The Morning. “Eric Garner was a decent man. Obviously, it was a minor offense he was committing. No way it should've ended up in this situation.” Read more...
