A Senate report on torture by CIA agents is filled with obscure terms and cryptic phrases that conceal brutal techniques



Below is a list of torture tactics that the CIA used on prisoners after 9/11. The report also detailed 13 "enhanced interrogation techniques" — a euphemism for torture — that the Department of Justice deemed lawful in May 2005. The DOJ said at the time that the tactics were effective; the report, however, said that was inaccurate.






Rectal feeding and rectal rehydration


This is easily the most gruesome tactic mentioned in the report. It's exactly what it sounds like — forced sodomy for prisoners who refused food. At least one detainee was diagnosed with "chronic hemorrhoids, an anal fissure and symptomatic rectal prolapse" after being subjected to the technique. This was done without DOJ approval.
