Channel 4 set to introduce pop star with prosthetic limb during 'X Factor' final

LONDON — Channel 4 is set to air a video that challenges preconceptions of what makes a pop star during Sunday's final for The X Factor.

A promo for "Prototype," a song by alternative pop artist Viktoria Modesta, who has a prosthetic leg, will debut in one of the singing-competition show's ad breaks. The clip, above, shows Modesta performing a dance, with a sharp spike attached to her knee.

In a release issued Friday, Channel 4 said Modesta is "every inch a new contemporary artist … but with a difference that sets her apart from the idealized form of a pop artist. A prosthetic limb." Read more...
