Stranded: I've been buried in snow on a New York highway for 24 hours

The following story was told to a Mashable editor by phone, as the author is stranded on a highway in upstate New York.

SOMEWHERE SOUTH OF WEST SENECA, NEW YORK — I am sitting in my truck surrounded by snow that looks like it’s somewhere around 4-feet high on all sides around me

I've been here, just past the 400 exit on Interstate 90, for more than 24 hours now.

I know that the New York State Thruway Authority and the National Guard are all working to dig people out, but I’m not entirely certain exactly what’s taking so long.
