The Supreme Court declined to hear appeals on same-sex marriage cases Monday, effectively legalizing gay marriage in five states and clearing the way for legalization in six more overseen by the same appellate courts



In addition to Monday's major move, a separate decision from the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco struck down marriage bans in Idaho and Nevada on Tuesday
