The Democrat's tech team spanked Republicans during the 2012 presidential election, leaving the GOP with two years to rethink how their digital game plan could translate into votes for 2014's midterm elections
Now, with those midterms less than a month away, two things seem clear: A group of Republicans are dedicated to evangelizing the promise of data-driven decision making, but that group still hasn't convinced the GOP leadership to invest more heavily in gathering and analyzing voter data
Republicans had far fewer data-focused staff members than the Democrats did back in 2012. President Barack Obama's 2012 campaign had 200 digital staff members and 50 staffers were dedicated to analyzing voter data, whereas Republican nominee Mitt Romney's crew only had around 120 digital employees and had fewer than 10 people analyzing data.
