Marvel Comics' Rebooting for First Time in 3 Years With 'Secret Wars'

It's been two years since the Marvel comic book universe rebooted its titles with a new core storyline, which the new "Secret Wars" brand will do in May 2015, the publishing arm announced Thursday — effectively bringing the three-year-old "Time Runs Out" arc to a close in the same month that Avengers: Age of Ultron hits movie theaters.


That's a neat bit of synergy in that the "Age of Ultron" comics were a major crossover event in the Marvel Now! initiative, which brought its Avengers, New Avengers and spinoff titles back to issues numero uno in 2012. "Ultron" is also the basis for the Disney distributed film, and sets in motion events that lead to last summer's "Infinity" comics run — the presumed next step for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with all films leading to and including Avengers 3.
