Top-Ranked U.S. General Says American Troops May Fight ISIS on the Ground
The U.S. military's top-ranked officer believes American ground forces could join Iraqi and Kurdish troops on the ground in the fight against the Islamic State.
Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said as much at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday that was designed to discuss the specifics of America's plan to "degrade and destroy" ISIS, the terror group that has led a bloody campaign to capture territory across Syria and Iraq and has formed a pseudo-state between the two nations.
