How 'TwoDots' Balances Fun, Skill and Luck
A few weeks ago I swore off TwoDots. The free-to-play game is the successor to the highly acclaimed and highly addictive Dots , changing up the formula by adding levels, characters and objectives, and one of those levels had completely flummoxed me.
The mobile puzzle game had me completely stuck at level 95. The level seemed insurmountable, asking me to break an impossible number of ice blocks while waves of fire kept consuming the board. Even after what felt like a few hundred tries, I was no closer to the goal
A couple weeks later on a subway ride home, I decided to try TwoDots again. I was completely delighted to see the level that plagued me had been slightly redesigned. It wasn't a walk in the park, but the challenge was no longer insurmountable. Read more...
