Missouri Governor: Ferguson Does Not Represent Who We Are as Americans

The unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, took a dramatic turn on Wednesday evening after a protester heaved a Molotov cocktail at police officers, who responded with smoke grenades and rubber bullets. Police arrested multiple journalists and demanded that reporters and demonstrators shut off their cameras in an effort to curb the images that have flooded the Internet over the past few days.

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, who is now headed to the St. Louis suburb, issued a statement Thursday morning acknowledging that local authorities in Ferguson have violated the rights of both protesters and the press.
