ADT Brings Smart Automation Apps to Home Security

If your smartphone alarm goes off at 7:00 a.m., wouldn't it be nice if the coffee pot downstairs automatically started to brew? And when the temperature outside hits 85 degrees, wouldn't it be lovely if your thermostat just knew you wanted it to cool down the house to 72 degrees?

Home automation and security service ADT is rolling out a new service that plays up these if-then scenarios and allows users to program similar configurations with popular web apps like Facebook, Dropbox, Jawbone, Nest and the Weather Channel

The company announced on Tuesday it is partnering with IFTTT ("If This Then That"), which allows users to connect different apps through if-then statements, which they refer to as command "recipes." Read more...
