Thieves Pull Off Multi-Million-Dollar Heist at Brazil Samsung Factory

SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL — Police in Brazil are searching for at least 11 men suspected of orchestrating a daring and meticulously-planned raid on a Samsung factory located in the city of Campinas, 50 miles northwest of São Paulo.


Some 40,000 electronic devices, including cellphones, tablets and notebooks, were taken in the late hours of Sunday into the early hours of Monday. Police say the total value of the products could total more than $36 million, but Samsung is disputing that number, saying it's closer to $6.3 million.


Security officials in São Paulo said that the assault, which lasted three to four hours, began just before midnight Sunday and involved around 20 criminals, adding that police are currently investigating the mass burglary. Read more...
